SKZ Children’s Painting Workshop is an experiment in collaboration between artist and children. The workshop is inspired by Friedrich Fröbel’s original 1837 concept of the Kindergarten: a garden that promotes natural learning and creative growth. Children and parents/guardians are invited into an installation environment with sculptural child-sized painting easels, hand-painted children’s painting smocks, and brightly colored banners. Children paint on large abstract silkscreened coloring-book pages. Their interactions with the printed composition invite reflection on creativity and freedom.
The workshop is appropriate for children aged 2-7 and their parents/guardians. Parents must sign a release form agreeing to the use of video and photographic documentation. Snacks will be served.
